Nexbell Communications to Certify TEK DigiTel’s V-Server iGATE VoIP Gateway/Router
Companies Team to help ISPs add Internet Voice Services to their Offerings

GERMANTOWN, MD - October 5, 1999     TEK DigiTel Corp. (OTC BB: TEKI) and Nexbell Communications, an IP infrastructure service provider, have initiated certification testing to enable TEK DigiTel's V-Server line of CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) VoIP Gateways to be used on the Nexbell network. This certification process enables Nexbell's ISP (Internet Service Provider) partners to use the V-Server iGate as a customer access device for both conventional Internet data traffic and voice/fax connectivity via Nexbell's Internet Telephony network.

Already underway, the certification testing covers both Voice and Fax calling between the V-Server iGate and Nexbell's high density Cisco VoIP Gateways as well as the ability to authorize calls, generate call records and implement billing. Following this process, the two companies will announce the availability of Nexbell services built around the V-Server to their ISP partners.

"We see the inclusion of a CPE device like the V-Server iGate as key to our plans to offer voice services that are transparent to end-users" explains Barry Greenspan, Vice President, New Business Development for Nexbell Communications. "By allowing small/medium sized businesses to keep their existing phone equipment but make phone/fax calls across the Nexbell Managed IP network as easily as making conventional calls today, we feel we have the winning proposition needed to get non-technical end-users to embrace IP Telephony services."

Upon completion of the certification, the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two companies, calls for TEK DigiTel and Nexbell Communications to co-market the network and access device to Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The iGate CPE will enable Nexbell to help Internet Service Providers leverage their current base of data-only customers to deliver higher margin voice services.

"As companies like Microsoft indicate that they are going to reduce or eliminate the cost of basic Internet access, ISPs are looking at ways to expand services beyond basic IP delivery" explains Rocco DiCarlo, President, TEK DigiTel. "By offering a managed IP network infrastructure, a voice/data access Gateway like our V-Server and the technical/marketing experience to manage and promote this new offering, Nexbell is able to offer the ISPs a quick route to begin generating revenue from Internet Telephony."

TEK DigiTel’s equipment and supplemental services are designed to make IP telephony less expensive and complex for providers to provision and for users to adopt. TEK’s V-Server gateway/routers are user-installable and inexpensive enough for carriers to bundle with voice, data and Internet access services.
