TEK DigiTel Gateways to Help CentreCom Advance Global
Market for Low-cost Internet "Follow Me" Services
GERMANTOWN, MD, July 20, 1999—Start-up Internet communications service provider CentreCom Inc. will bundle IP telephony gateways from TEK DigiTel Corp. (OTC: TEKI) to provide enhanced local, long distance, and free calling-group telephony services. CentreCom will use TEK DigiTel’s VoiceServer access devices at customer locations to interoperate with Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) AS5300 equipment in the carrier’s infrastructure. Equipped with the TEK DigiTel technology, remote CentreOne™ customers using standard telephones will be able to send and receive calls and faxes, and access voice messaging, to and from anywhere in the world through the Internet at incredible savings. CentreCom Inc. expects to sign as many as 3,000,000 subscribers worldwide by 2001.
Using iGATE and CentreCom’s own patent-pending technology for incoming calls, the CentreOne platform seamlessly ties together wireless, wireline and Internet telephony communications. CentreCom uses both the Internet and current telephony infrastructure to link real-time phone services, voice and fax messaging, and Microsoft NetMeeting 3.0 as well as other H323 compliant gateway clients. With callers dialing a single number, subscribers can get calls on whichever medium they prefer or are closest to. The one-number solution can use three lines simultaneously to communicate with computers, cellular/PCS devices and landline phones.
Bundling Trend Advances IP Telephony
"A sure sign that Internet Telephony is on the verge of becoming mainstream is that providers like CentreCom are becoming very creative and offering complete solutions," says Rocco DiCarlo, president, TEK DigiTel Corp. "Not only have they put together unbelievably functional services and low price points, but they are subsidizing equipment costs to make it easy for subscribers to take advantage of those services. We saw this model in the cellular phone industry and tremendous growth followed almost instantly."
CentreCom Inc. will offer free Internet-based services between calling groups. TEK DigiTel’s own gatekeeper service, VoiceServer.net, can find other iGATE devices with no effort on the carrier’s part. This free capability complements CentreCom’s long-distance offering to any destination on the Public Service Telephone Network at greatly reduced costs. TEK DigiTel will bundle CentreOne services with iGATE devices to enable TEK users to quickly access IP Telephony services.

"iGATE gives us a tremendous advantage now and going forward," says Don Feuer, President of CentreCom Inc. "The low cost and ease of installation allow us to bundle equipment and services and add users without dispatching technicians. Besides that, TEK DigiTel’s VoiceServer platform will support everything we might need going forward--the Internet, ISDN, DSL and more."
iGATE combines Internet Protocol (IP) telephony, high-speed Internet access and IP routing at an unprecedented low price point so service providers can create complete, cost-effective service solutions that include state-of-the-art customer premise equipment. During Q3, TEK DigiTel will expand the capacity and functionality of its V-Server product family with integrated, full-feature PBX functionality.
