TEK DIGITEL JOINS iNOW! TO ADVANCE IP TELEPHONY INTEROPERABILITY

GERMANTOWN, MD, June 8, 1999 – TEK DigiTel (OTC: TEKI) has joined Internet Telephony industry leaders like Motorola, Ascend and Lucent in supporting the iNOW!™ initiative to support interoperability among IP telephony platforms. The first in TEK’s V-SERVER product set; the iGATE VoIP Gateway/Router as well as future V-SERVER products will be designed to comply with the interoperability profiles established by iNOW!™. TEK DigiTel’s current V-SERVER iGATE VoIP Gateway/Router and future V-SERVER products will be designed to comply with the interoperability profiles established by iNOW!™.

TEK DigiTel develops IP-based voice/data access solutions designed to help Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs), local loop providers and next-generation telcos speed adoption of Internet Telephony in the underserved small business and SOHO market. TEK DigiTel recently shipped the first offering in its VoiceServer product family, the V-SERVER iGate voice gateway/router, largely to advance industry pilots and interoperability testing efforts such as those supported by iNOW!. Additional VoiceServer platforms are scheduled for summer rollout.

TEK DigiTel President Rocco DiCarlo says joining iNOW! is in keeping with TEK's strategy for securing industry leadership. "We are engineering our products to be the simplest, easiest to use and install so that small businesses can take advantage of the tremendous cost savings offered by Internet Telephony."
