TEK DigiTel Further Strengthens Management Team Adds Another Motorola Veteran to Provide Technical Vision

GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 1999--TEK DigiTel today announced it has further strengthened its management team with the appointment of Rocco DiCarlo, as Vice President of Technology. Mr. DiCarlo, who will provide technical vision for the growing company, was previously Director of New Markets Development at Motorola's Internet and Networking Group, the nation's leading provider of Frame Relay Access Devices, Cable modems, and voice over Frame Relay networks.

TEK DigiTel was created in July 1998, and is in the business of developing communications solutions for small office/home office users which use the Internet protocol to packetize voice, fax, audio and video so that they can be integrated with email, voice-mail, paging, and WEB based applications. Over its seven-month history, the company has been assembling a management team that now includes senior executives with experience from a variety of telecommunications and Fortune 500 Companies. In a related announcement made December 7th, 1998, TEK DigiTel announced that a former Motorola National Sales Manager - John DiPangrazio had been appointed Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

``Rocco has the exceptional vision, leadership, and management experience required to develop a steady stream of innovative products in a fast-growing industry,'' said Thomas Yang, President and CEO of TEK DigiTel.`` ''He is widely recognized as one of the foremost industry talents at managing market and product development for entry packet access devices, and I am delighted to have him take control of our technical vision in this exciting venture. With Rocco's leadership, TEK DigiTel has the potential to become a significant force in the marketplace. I look forward to helping him in whatever capacity I can.``

A sixteen-year veteran of Motorola, DiCarlo most recently served as Director of New Markets Development at Motorola's Internet and Networking Group, Mansfield Massachusetts. Rocco is widely credited for his leadership management in achieving Motorola's marketshare success in frame relay, having led key development efforts for Vanguard Multimedia Products (including Voice Relay and VoIP), ISDN Packet Access, POS solutions, and RemoteVU (Low Speed - High Resolution video surveillance over internet). DiCarlo graduated from The University Of Waterloo with B.A.Sc. Electrical Engineering, M.A.Sc. Management Sciences.

Upon assuming his new appointment, Rocco DiCarlo said ``the benefit of integrating voice, email, fax, video, news delivery, radio and television over the Internet protocol will be so compelling that not accessing this flow of information could ultimately mean failure of an enterprise,'' DiCarlo said adding, ``until now, available technology has been complex and unreliable to the point where prematurely integrating these applications could have also meant failure. TEK is taking a leadership role in developing the technology and industry partnerships that can achieve this integration but with simplicity, speed, reliability, and no technical training. We have a vision to put together the right technology, team, and strategy for this new industry, and we believe we can redefine the baseline for entry access devices.''

TEK DigiTel is a premier provider of remote access devices that enables people and businesses to combine voice, video and data applications over a single access connection, so they can exchange information and conduct commerce over the Internet and other global networks. The company was founded in March 1996, and will soon begin offering an economical new line of single-box communications solutions, which will provide all elements of small-office communications, including router, PBX, PSTN, and Voice over IP (VoIP) services. TEK's new V-Server product line will enable Internet service providers to extend their infrastructures to deliver IP-based voice and data services to the customer premise, and apply the benefits of IP across the entire network. The V-Server can provide a graceful and cost-effective migration path from PSTN- to IP-based voice networks. Publicly held, TEK DigiTel Corporation is based in Germantown, Maryland.
